Stolen ride

Well this morning we awoke to more less than stellar weather, quite cloudy and not a good forcast. At least the radar didnt show much going on. We figured the high mountain stuff would be a mudfest similar to yesterday so we sought out a lower ride with southern exposure in hopes that it would be dry. We confirmed our suspicions about the high alpine stuff with a quick call to the bike shop and he steered us toward an area that we thought might work. It wasnt a long loop, even with the extra stuff we managed it was only about 12 miles but it was about the only 12 miles that was ridable in the whole area. It wasnt a bad ride, typical high desert, hard pack dirt, a few rocks here and there, lots of sage scrub, and a bit more grass than we typically see. We got about half way through the main loop and decided to push things abit and do the cobblestone loop. About half way through that loop we were both pretty convinced we were gonna get hammered with rain as it was seriously ugly looking across I-80 back at park city. Somehow we managed to finish the ride with out more than much of a sprinkle on us. It did actually start raining a bit more as we were changing at the restroom at the trailhead. And what a restroom it was. There is definitely money in this town as this is the first trail head bathroom ive ever seen with stainless steel toilets and wash basins. We definitely felt like we stole a ride today. It wasnt really what we came here in search of, but not a bad trade off compared to sitting in the trailer all day. We stopped at the other big bike shop in town, quite the impressive collection of bikes, many with a price tag of $3000 plus and a defininte handful over 4 grand. Its not always easy finding a parking spot for the Beast, but Howie did a great job. It seemed a bit snootier than white pines, the other shop, but everybody seemed pretty friendly. Howie picked up a park city patch and a park city sticker for the RV, thus the picture up front.
One thing the short ride and close proximity to the campground affored us was a chance to get back and start dinner at a reasonable time. The weather just kept improving to the point where we ate outside and I'm typing this entry outside as well. We had bought chicken the other day which Howie bbq'd to perfection and he cut up a couple a potatoes that he grilled in his new cast iron skillet with ALOT of garlic, butter, pepper etc. and then topped with cheese. During the cooking process we took a moment to chrisen the rv with her first sticker of hopefully many.
The evening weather is about perfect however the light is starting to dim and I know the squiters are gonna start heading out to dine on us.
And less you think its all play and no work, we did have a conference call at 7am our time this morning and I was talking to two different docs this evening.
